Masada

In the Negev desert, near the Dead Sea, on a mountaintop, its Masada.

The word Masada means "fortress" in Hebrew. The cliff's remoteness from human habitation and difficult approach made it an ideal location for a fortress. Two fortified palaces were built there in the 1st century BC. Looking at ruins and surroundings you fell the beauty of the place and imagine the life of old times. To have an idea how was to live here, forget the cable transportation and take the Snake Path. The effort merits.
